What is a Deep Stretch class?

Our Deep Stretch class is a 60-minute class combining active and static stretching exercises. Poses are held for longer periods of time opening up the body, targeting primary muscle groups around the hips, hamstrings, shoulders and back.

What’s the difference between deep stretching and regular stretching?

Our muscles are wrapped in connective tissue called Fascia that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, and muscle in place. When fascia is tight, it decreases the amount of space your muscles have to move and contract, which decreases your flexibility. Fascia accounts for just under 50% of your flexibility – to break down the fascia, you’ll need more than just an ordinary stretch session. Deep stretch, performed with the guidance of an expert, can help to loosen up the fascia around the muscles by the different exercises and longer holds included. This class is a must add to your exercise routine!

Who is this class for?

This class is best for you if:

- You have naturally tight fascia
- You have slouched shoulders, meaning that your chest fascia is tight
- You do a lot of weight training – loosening your fascia can help you keep building muscle volume
- You’re a booty builder! You’ll really need to stretch those tight glutes after trainings
- You have lower back pain – very often the cause of backpain can be tight glutes, hips or even quads!

What are the benefits of deep stretching?

Improved flexibility

Stretching lengthens your muscles and improves your range of motion. Improved flexibility can help you to perform everyday activities with relative ease, but it can also help delay the reduced mobility that can come with aging!

Better posture

Tight muscles can lead to poor posture. Combining strengthening and stretching exercises of specific muscle groups can reduce pains and encourage proper alignment – which in turn will improve your posture.

Reduced injury risk

Being able to move a joint through its full range of motion give you more freedom of movement. Stretching on a regular basis can help increase your range of motion which can potentially decrease your risk of muscular injury.

Less back pain

Stretching can help heal an existing back injury by stretching the muscles. Tight muscles can lead to a decrease in your range of motion – when this happens, you increase the likelihood of straining the muscles in your back.

Less stress

Stretching is an effective way of preventing and alleviating stress. It lengthens the muscles to relieve tension as well as raises levels of vitality and mental health. Stretching releases endorphins that help to reduce pain and enhance your mood.
