HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
What is HIIT?
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) involves short intense workouts. You give a series of exercises your full effort for short bursts – with you working at around 80-90% of your maximum heart rate – and follow it with a period of rest.
This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. It also increases the body’s need for oxygen during the effort and creates an oxygen shortage, causing your body to ask for more oxygen during recovery.
While exercising with this type of maximum effort is difficult, it does wonders for your health.
What are the benefits of HIIT?
HIIT classes help you build a stronger and healthier heart. With taking up HIIT 2-3x a week, you’ll start to see an improvement in your fitness, helping you maintain stamina for longer.
As HIIT consists of short intervals of maximum effort, followed by a period of rest, this type of exercise burns 25–30% more calories than other forms of exercise in a shorter period of time.

The intensity of a HIIT workout can elevate your metabolism for hours after exercise. This results in burning additional calories even after you have finished exercising!
Even though HIIT training is relatively shorter than traditional endurance exercise, high intensity interval training can produce similar or even more fat loss and reduced waist size.
